Peaches and Pizza

Are you tired of peaches yet? Hang with me~ I'm not done yet!

I've been thinking pizza. If a Hawaiian pizza is ham and pineapple; what would a pizza covered with peaches and prosciutto be... and Italian pizza? I wouldn't dare go there, after all Italy is known for it's pizza.

We'll just call this pizza Southern I-talian.

Peach &Prosciutto Pizza

1 pizza dough
6-8 slices prosciutto
2 peaches sliced
1/2 cup mozzarella
fresh rosemary
Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Make your pizza crust, spreading the dough very thin. Brush the dough with oil, sprinkle generously with rosemary, salt and pepper. Top with slices of peaches and prosciutto cut into thin slices. Cover the top with a good mozzarella. Bake in a preheated oven at 350° 10-20 minutes- depending on the thickness of your crust.

When we make pizza at home~ which we do a lot~ the effort goes into the dough. I have been known to 'dress up' frozen pizzas, or to make my own dough. Mostly, I like to buy the dough pre-made in the bakery department; it is ready to roll out onto a pizza stone. It saves so much time and mess. You can also get pre-made crusts like these from Hormel. I prefer the dough in the bakery. Either way no fuss, no muss.

So if you have a bunch of peaches~ try a prosciutto and peach pizza. If I can't be in Italy... I can at least eat like an I-talian.

Ciao y'all,
Sandi

I love pizza! I love peaches and ham! I don't know if I'd like them all cooked together but I bet if I was there I'd try a piece!

You are brilliant. I would have never thought about peaches on pizza. Good thinking!

I love pineapple on my pizzas so I bet this would be good. We pick up the dough in the bakery at our nearly Publix, let it rise and then top it off with all our favorites. Yum!

Hugs!

Have you tried one of those whirly-giggy pizza cooker thingys yet? I think they're called Pizzaz (or something like that). My g/f swears by hers. I had a pizza stone once...never could get the damn pizza off it! I know-I know, I needed a paddle. Too many gadgets for me. (smiles)

Peach pizza -- what a great idea!

LOL, Sandi, my hubby would NOT like P&P on his pizza, but I probably would. I love that pineapple & ham one, so this would probably work for me. I didn't know about the dough in the bakery dept. thing...I will have to ask, does Publix do this?? You just ask them for a big ball of dough?? I'd probably make my own pizza if I could get that!

Oh, I let my Southern Living subsc. go too...I know exactly what you mean about the same ole, same old. I was hoping for more home pics, but they really don't have that much in there. The travel part was OK, but not that interesting to me & they have WAY too many ads!

Good Lord, thought I was the only peach fanatic that would actually make a fruit pizza! I use cherry pie filling for the sauce, peach slices along with kiwi slices and strawberries...we live so close to McLeod Farms (Mac's Pride peaches) I could spit in the orchard!
