Toms are my favorite traveling shoes ~ except for the time that only rain boots would do.

PhotoHunt ~ Beard

The PhotoHunt for today is Beard. I was digging through photos for a fabulous beard (isn't that what the photohunt is all about?)
I cam across these photos of my favorite museum in Florence

This is the monastary San Marco ~ 15th century church and convent that housed the dominican artist  Fra Angeleco and Savonarola.
The frescos are breathtaking. . .

Each cell was painted with unique stories of Jesus's life. The saints are all depicted with their identifying feature . . . Here you can see Saint  Lorenzo holding the grate he was roasted on. Saint Peter always has the blood mark on his head from the hatchet. (the stories always intrigued me)

This is a simple convent that is built around a beautiful garden.

Here again you see San Lorenzo and San Marco . . .

Yesterday . . . a popup on my Kayak showed that airfare to Italy was $600 LESS than it has been.

I resisted the urge.

But . . . I could be like a kid and just Jump!

PhotoHunt ~Coin

The PhotoHunt for this weekend is 'Coin'

This is a story . . . about the need for the coin.

I was at the Vatican and wanted to Light a candle at the chapel of Saint Anna ( a beautiful little chapel behind the Vatican walls. . . where my friends were married several years ago)

I didn't have a Coin . . . and I have learned my lesson about lighting a candle without a coin. Especially at the Vatican.

This is the view from the coffee shop across the way . . . a braved the glare of the shop owner when I traded a 20euro for a cappuccino and lots of coins.

PhotoHunt ~STOP

The PhotoHunt for today is STOP

I am always entertained by the signs in Italy . . . I think these mean STOP.
As in you are about to fall in the water.

This might mean stop before you slide off the cliff . . .

STOP ~ Before you encounter cute little Italian children crossing the road with pasta filled lunch boxes.

PhotoHunt ~ Cross

The PhotoHunt for today is Cross.

I had thousands of pictures to go through and picked some of my favorites. This cross is on the family chapel of my friend Anna Lisa's winery.

This is an unusual view of the cross at the tile dome in Positano.

The cathedral in Pienza was built to honor Pope Pius... and God of course.

So many churches and holy places across Italy. . . above is the magical dome that rises above Florence.
The quiet simplicity of the monastery in the mountains, Monte Oliveto.

It's hard to know which is my favorite. They all hold special places in my heart.
