Black~Eyed Pea Salad

I wanted to post the recipe for my Black-Eyed Pea Salad that I made while at the beach for our intimate poolside party for 60.

But . . . In all the excitement (and perhaps the influence of bushwackers), I didn't take a single photo of the peas. Or the salad. Or the 60+ people enjoying the salad.
In 2012 I did take pictures of red onions . . .

Black-Eyed Pea Salad
5 cans black-eyed peas
1 red onion
2 tomatoes
1 red bell pepper
1 bunch cilantro
1 small can diced jalapenos
1 bottle italian dressing
Rinse the canned peas until they are clear of that thick sauce. Dice onion and tomato. Chop cilantro. Combine in a large bowl with jalapenos and italian dressing. Allow to sit overnight or several hours.
This makes a huge bowl.

With a view like this . . . is it any wonder I forgot to take pictures of the peas?
Y'all enjoy,
Sandi

The Coolest Party

I finally have something to post for Blue Monday.

We have just gotten back from a fabulous wedding weekend at the beach.
Rob & Brandi took care of  all of the wedding details (photos to come). We got to plan the 'coolest party' for the night before the wedding.
Since it was a destination wedding for everyone, we wanted to have a casual evening for family and friends. A chance for everyone to mingle and get to know each other.

I couldn't have done it without my A-team of helpers. Even Hope was a big help. . . and she is the cutest as she is resting before the party.

This was an area that is poolside at Caribe. We swooped in as folks went in for the afternoon. Throwing out table cloths to claim our party space. A party banner helps!

We decorated with pinwheels and giant bubble wands. Perfect for the poolside, since the kids were all wanting to swim. The adults were close enough, but could enjoy their evening too.
Such a fun night.

The weather was perfect (compared to the rainy evenings all week prior). Even the sunset cooperated.

We had made a bucket of sand and kerosene burners for a s'more station. (what kind of dessert can you serve when the bride is a pastry chef ??? )
It was a great way to end the evening . . . And begin the wedding weekend.

Don't forget to check in at Smiling Sally for more blues and Coastal Charm for her 'Show and Share'.
Y'all enjoy ~

PhotoHunt ~ Toes

The PhotoHunt today is 'Toes'

I think you could say that I have Traveling Toes . . .

Lots of pictures of my toes on the go . . .

Toms are my favorite traveling shoes ~ except for the time that only rain boots would do.

Toes in the sand. . .

It's a way to take my picture without a selfie stick

When you travel alone, it is a way to remember where you've been.

Even for a Southern girl at the Vatican.

PhotoHunt ~ Beard

The PhotoHunt for today is Beard. I was digging through photos for a fabulous beard (isn't that what the photohunt is all about?)
I cam across these photos of my favorite museum in Florence

This is the monastary San Marco ~ 15th century church and convent that housed the dominican artist  Fra Angeleco and Savonarola.
The frescos are breathtaking. . .

Each cell was painted with unique stories of Jesus's life. The saints are all depicted with their identifying feature . . . Here you can see Saint  Lorenzo holding the grate he was roasted on. Saint Peter always has the blood mark on his head from the hatchet. (the stories always intrigued me)

This is a simple convent that is built around a beautiful garden.

Here again you see San Lorenzo and San Marco . . .

PhotoHunt ~Kid

The Saturday PhotoHunt is 'Kid'

Yesterday . . . a popup on my Kayak showed that airfare to Italy was $600 LESS than it has been.

I resisted the urge.
But . . . I could be like a kid and just Jump!

Travel Tuesday ~ Provincetown

Whilst I was in Boston, I was on an eating extravaganza. While I was near the cold waters of the NE, I wanted to tick all the boxes . . . Oysters, mussels and of course~

Lobster Rolls (minus the bread)

We went to the famous Bubala's . . . and had a great seat out on the patio. That is the best place to catch all the action in Provincetown.

It is Such a fun place to visit . . . you will see a little bit of everything.
(I would like to think that these are purple monkey's on his hat.  . . But I wasn't sure)

I Loved the fun and friendly atmosphere.

As we sailed back into Plymoth harbor . . .  I decided that the folks on the Mayflower were probably smart to get back on that boat and keep sailing.
That was one thing I learned ~ the pilgrams landed in Provincetown and stayed 6 weeks before they loaded up and headed west.
Maybe they should have planned their first winter in Mobile bay instead!

I am also joining Our World Tuesday
Y'all enjoy the ride~
