WHY?

Do you ever have one of those days when you wonder 'why bother blogging'?
I have had one of those months.

In the movie Julie & Julia, Julie the blogger becomes a little obsessed about posting recipes, cooking and keeping up. It is all for her 'bleaders'... those people we assume are reading.

Well, I got this comment last week from an anonymous bleader...
"Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Fried Green Tomatoes":
I could just hug your neck for all of these wonderful recipes! I am just now learning to cook. I had a lengthy list of recipes I wanted to find, and you had them all!
You're a lifesaver!
Wish me luck!"
That comment just brightened my day! Anytime someone wants to 'hug your neck'~ that is high praise indeed.

I also won a giveaway from Jonita The Book Chic, and guess what... It is Julie &Julia! I will read it, then pass it on to my friends. The movie is great. It will make you bloggers laugh, bleaders smile, and cooks will just want to flip something. So maybe I will keep this up for a bit longer.

Thanks y'all,
Sandi

You definitely BETTER keep blogging! How else will I get my feeling of total ineptitude in a kitchen (well, okay, so I can get that feeling just by walking in my own kitchen) but, the point is, I enjoy looking at all the beautiful stuff you cook and reading about how "easy" it is to do (I don't always believe you, but it's a comfort to read it anyway.)

I really didn't give that movie Julie & Julia a second thought until I read this post, though. Now I think it might be something to see!

I'm glad you are still here! I think it's the season. I think there is a blogging lull in the summer - less posts, less comments.

anxiously awaiting the movie... :) and yes, I thought of all of the ones that cook and blog the entire time I read it

Can't wait to see that movie, especially now that you've gave it a thumbs up. Lots of days I have one or two comments on my posts and I think why am I doing this. It's theraputic to spill my guts I guess!

Guess we do fail to share how much we enjoy your blog. I was so upset when you were in Italy, I just couldn't get the blog to open and I knew I was missing some special posts!!!
It has been very difficult to think of topics the past week or so, I thought of quitting too. Guess it is just summer!!!

Sandi, I've never heard that expression but it's so cute and really gets the point across about how important your blog is to us. I have not seen the J and J movie but will do so asap. Your blog is wonderful. I am a big fan. Please keep on doing what you do so well in your sweet Southern style.

Those moccasins look familiar, are you sure you are not seeing a relative of mine, lol, my son loves those shoes, so I buy them for him every year...pretty pedi going on there too!

PS- Be glad its not the troll comments I have gotten in the past, and they are positive...

If that was a troll~ she is one troll who made me happy.
Maybe this bleader will come out from under that anonymous troll bridge.

Sandi,

First, congrats on the winning of Julie and Julia. I'm sure you will enjoy the book as much as the movie.

I think we all go through this drought and wondering why we keep blogging every once in a while. I also think that the longer you've been at it (you and I for example) the harder sometimes it is to get back into the swing of things.

Then you get a comment like that from someone just starting out discovering the fantastic world of cooking for themselves and all the reasons why you do it come flooding back.

Go easy on your self, blog when you want to about the things you want to and the other cooking, just do for you and Bill. We'll all still be here regardless of how often you post.

OH, BTW, I DID use buttermilk on my fried green tomatoes from the blighted plant and it was your recipe, the one that originally brought me to your site so many years ago! Story later in the weekend (probably through LB's eyes, who discovered a latent love of green tomatoes), I promise. Thanks, as always for stopping by The Sour Dough too!
